About me
As an instructional designer my goal is to help students/employees solve real problems in the real world with lasting measurable success. Technology in the classroom or on-line can be a useful tool to help share ideas, store information, engage learners and reduce traditional barriers to learning.
Most adult learners question how learning material is relevant to their job or life. They like choices, demand realistic scenarios and have little patience for boring or trite tutorials I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to make online learning engaging and useful.
When possible, I also believe learning should be fun. As children we begin learning through the use of play, and I believe it is a powerful educational tool, hardwired in our brains. Games can be used to teach lessons or convey information just as easily as Power Point slides. Yet as we get older, many adults fear that games, interaction, creativity or fun are too childish for work hence, the long, dreaded information dump.
I feel very lucky to have chosen a profession which combines so many of my strengths and interests. One part creativity, a dash of psychology, mix technology with education and you end up with an instructional designer. This field is ever changing and I continue to strive to improve my knowledge and skills. I welcome anyone interested in collaboration, advice, job inquiries or other to feel free to contact me.
